My little Logan is sick today. And not with the normal runny nose he usually gets. He has the stomach flu. He was vomiting from 1030 to 130 am last night. We went through every sheet and blanket in our house along with 5 pairs of pj's. He's never had the stomach flu before and I just hate it for him. He's not vomiting anymore, but he has gone through 4 diapers in the past hour (if you know what I mean...)! He's at least drinking plenty of fluids and playing like normal, but I really hope he gets better soon!
I'm exhausted from being up most of the night with him and really hope that I don't get this from him. It never fails that he gets sick around the weekend when I have to work. You may remember this post, which I must add is one of the top posts on my blog!
I don't have a photo to post because my SD card was left at my parents during Christmas celebrations. Dad, I can't find my backup...I had planned on running to pick up a new card today, but I don't think we will be able to do that today now.
I do have our Christmas pictures to blog about, so hopefully I will get time to do that today amidst the 20 loads of laundry that were accumulated last night...

Cookies for Santa bake-a-thon!
Logan had so much fun baking Christmas cookies last year that this year, we decided to invite our friends Gina and Addy over to bake with us. I'm pretty sure this was a recipe for disaster...
I think our cookies turned out pretty amazing! It was a big mess, but the kids had a blast and Gina and I did too. Logan couldn't wait to put his cookies out for Hoho.

Holiday Crafting Fun: My Favorite Gift Wrapping Idea
Again, I got this idea off of Pinterest and ran with it with a few modifications. It is always so boring to wrap cash, gift cards, etc, so this was really fun and easy for Logan and I to do and a great way to recycle toilet paper rolls!
I will point out that gift cards will not fit in toilet paper tubes once you fold the ends in, but you could use a paper towel roll cut in half and do the same thing!

| Let your child paint away. Logan really liked painting the inside of the rolls too, so our family is getting surprise pictures inside! |

The 12 Days of Christmas Music-Day 1
Merry Christmas Eve!! I hope everyone is enjoying their families today and tomorrow. Here is one final Christmas song for the year. I've discovered that I probably need 100 days of Christmas to put all my favorites on this blog though. I still feel like I've left so many of my favorites out!

Holiday Crafting Fun: Popsicle Stick Ornaments
There is nothing cooler than homemade Christmas ornaments on the Christmas tree! I don't care how horribly ugly or imperfect they are. The are meaninful and I LOVE them! Logan's addition to our tree this year (other than the bath poofs) is a few popsicle stick ornaments. I laid the groundwork for this activity by glueing the popsicle sticks into the appropriate shapes. Logan is still in that destructive stage during crafting, so I figured the sticks would not stay in their shape if I let him do the glueing.
Other than that, Logan did these ornaments with minimal direction or intervention from me!

Holiday Crafting Fun: Foam Gingerbread House
I love the idea of making a Gingerbread house, but hate the idea of the mess, so when I found this Gingerbread house foam kit at Hobby Lobby, I was excited. This is toddler perfect!

Holiday Happenings
Our holidays have been much busier this year. Logan is loving every moment and I am pretty sure we are going to have a very unhappy little boy next week when the Christmas tree goes down (we may have to leave it up a little longer.)
What I really love this year is that Logan is really into the gift giving part. Nothing makes him happier than giving someone a gift. Now, he really likes to help them open the gift but he understands that whatever is in there is not for him, but for the recipient. Our godson, Cortland, and his Mommy and Daddy came to visit last week and Logan loved helping him out with his gifts!

The goody bags Santa handed out at the Christmas party had holiday tattoos in them. Logan has figured out how to use a baby wipe to apply them himself. I attempted to get a picture of his "tat sleeve" but he kept pulling his sleeves down.

Logan's gift from Santa this year is a kitchen. It is a really nice wooden kitchen. I was shocked when we opened it and it wasn't particle board! This thing is REAL wood. I think it is sturdier than most of the furniture we have in our house. Unfortunately assembly was required...I figured Jeff could get a good start on it by himself while I wrapped presents...

Life in Reverse...
I really feel like we are living life in reverse here lately. My husband has been at his job for 6 years now and he has always had afternoon or day shift. The transfer that brought us back closer to home was a sacrifice knowing that he would be on afternoons for a very long time and may not get back to day shift for 10 or 15 years. We've adjusted to afternoon shift over the past two years and it is working for us. I just kept dreaming of the day he would go back to day shift. Of course, as soon as things start going smooth, a wrench is thrown at us. Jeff has been placed on midnight shift for next year. Oh, and he gets to work all the holidays (which has not happened since his first year...). Seems like a step backward to me.
Amidst all that news, Logan has stopped sleeping. Logan has slept well since he was a newborn. As a newborn, he would sleep in four hour increments and was sleeping through the night by the time I returned to work when he was 3 months old.
I can count on my fingers the amount of times he has not slept through the night. It was almost always when we needed sleep, of course, but really has happened less than 10 times. Really.
We transitioned to his big boy bed a few months ago and all seemed to be going well. Occasionally, the going to sleep was challenging and naps became less consistent, but overall not too bad of a transition.
Until the last month.
Logan will only nap if we drive him around in the car until he falls asleep. He takes over 2 hours most nights to fall asleep and then wakes up 2 or 3 times in the night screaming. It is possible he is having nightmares, but not night terrors. It has been a nightmare for us though. If we go in there and comfort him, he falls asleep but as soon as we leave the room, he is up and screaming. That means we are often up for one hour just trying to get him back to sleep. We try to trade off but it really doesn't help because then he wakes up at 6:30 am every day raring and ready to go. The only way we have gotten any sleep this past month is to put him in bed with us. I don't sleep well with him in the bed because I am afraid I will roll on him, so it really doesn't help all that much for me.
Due to all this lack of sleep, we are all crabby! There is not enough caffeine to get me through the days. It's rainy outside so there is little hope of burning off his energy outside and there is really no place here indoors to take kids to burn off energy (unless I want to drive 2 hours and that seems like a bad idea with as little sleep as I have had lately.).
I really hope this is a passing phase. I want my good little sleeper back!

Our Iphone Life
I love my iPhone. It's about the best thing I own. Logan is at the age where he is in love with all the fun little apps and can actually run the phone better than Jeff can. I also love that it is super easy to take fairly decent photos when I don't have my good camera handy. This also leads to a lot of photos on my phone that get dumped onto my computer about once a month and I share them with you! Enjoy!

Ho!Ho! Here. The Christmas Party
I am an extremely fortunate girl. I not only have the best Mom and Dad in the entire world, but my Dad is also a Santa Claus Ambassador. Yep-that's right, he has a direct line to the big man himself!
You may have noticed that Logan loves Santa this year. Apparently, not all toddlers do. In fact, few toddlers love Santa (or so my Dad says). They like the presents that he brings, but don't want to get anywhere near the big scary man in the red suit. I assumed that Logan loves Santa because my Dad looks like Santa, but my niece is scared of Santa (even when it is her Pappy in the suit) so maybe my hypothesis was wrong. Who knows?
My Dad came to visit our play group's Christmas Party. I had planned this a year in advance (before I was aware Santa scared toddlers so much!) and have been looking forward to it all year.
I was not disappointed! Although, there was only one other brave child who sat on Santa's lap, the kids and family had a great time at the party! Logan probably had the best time of all with a little help from eating more sugar in one night than he probably has eaten in the past year. I could not believe he didn't throw up.
