What?!?! A New Blog Post?

That is right.  I am back!  It's been a crazy past few weeks.  I have played the role of full time working, single mom and have to say I am not a fan!  I give props to all the women out there who are single parenting.  I just can't imagine doing it every single day!
Why was I a single mom?  Well, my husband was sent out of town for work 10 days out of 14 and then returned home to work 7 days in a row.  We haven't seen a lot of each other to say the least!
I've returned to the normal Monday through Friday grind and LOVE it!  I am so happy to be in my new position.  Logan is adjusting well to going to his school/daycare every day other than the shorter naps.  He is a little cranky because he isn't able to get as much sleep.  I don't blame him.
I am going to try to keep up with the blog now that I am back to work, but it will most likely not be as often as before.  My goal is one post a week.  We shall see.
I'm going to use this post as a little update of how Logan is doing with life in general.

Let's do this in list format!

  • He's cuter and cuter every. single. day.
  • He has taken to saying "Oh dear." in the most adorable tone of voice when something doesn't go his way.  He picked it up from his Nonnie one weekend.
  • His speech is really taking off.  He talks in full sentences that are understandable at least 50% of the time.  He is now telling us how his day was and able to let us know what he wants and needs with his words.  He hardly ever uses signs anymore.  Every day he gets a little better.
  • He loves Batman.

The original Batman.  LOVES it!  If you want a good laugh, catch it on the HUB channel.

  • He apparently likes to sing the Batman song "Nananananananana Batman!" while pooping on the potty at school.  His teachers were pretty amused.
  • Potty training is going.  He has accidents here and there, but only wears diapers at night now.  Hooray!
  • He has an iPad addiction.  Mostly our fault (ok, all our fault).  We have told him the iPad is gone.    He is still grieving the loss.
  • He loves to cook with Mommy!
Making chocolate chip cookies!
  • He is an early riser.  Ugh.  This is not good for this night owl girl!  He pads out of his room at approximately 545 am most mornings.  Bright eyed and bushy tailed until about 8 am when he begins to get cranky.
  • He insists that there are "bees" in our house and before he goes to bed his bedroom door must be shut to "keep bees out"
  • He is not a fan of clothes.  He prefers to run around in his underwear.  "No like those shoes." "Those pants hurt me", etc. are often heard phrases around this house.
  • I apologize to our neighbors who see my half naked son running around the yard or, on occasion, wandering down the sidewalks of our subdivision with me.
Ok, that is enough for tonight!  I am very excited to be heading back to church tomorrow morning!  No real consistent church for the past two and a half years has taken its toll on me.  I am so ready to get back into the church!

Click. Click. Snap.

It's that time of the year again!  Little man Lo's 3 year photographs.  We have found an amazing photographer that you may remember from these awesome Easter photographs
You may wonder why I am just getting his photos done since he turned 3 in June.  Well, you see, my little cutie pie has taken to scratching his face like a newborn again.  Seriously.  Every time I planned on scheduling the photo shoot a new scratch appeared on his face...oh dear.  We were finally mostly scratch free a few weeks back, so I jumped at the opportunity!
Logan has been known to not always be cooperative with photographers...mainly because he is a stubborn...I mean, strong willed...toddler.  The day of the photographs was no different.  He insisted on taking a bag full of dinosaurs to the photo shoot and just wanted to play.  Jenn, the photographer, is so awesome and laid back that she took Logan in stride, but we were both a little worried if there would very many good photos to choose from...
This is a photo she took that gives you an idea of what she had to work with...
He was not having any of it...
Of course Jenn (who is amazing...have I mentioned that?) found ways to get him to smile.  He still talks about blowing Dog off her head and playing hide and seek with her.
So, did she get any good photos?
I'll let you decide.
Peek-A-Boo!

Playing hide and seek...

Look at those baby blues

My serious little man

Excited about his birthday decorations (which were still hanging on our kitchen wall two weeks ago...)

Cheese!

Not really sure why, but I love this profile shot.

Logan with his dinosaur and baseball gear!
My favorite newborn photo of Logan was this one:

I took that baseball glove back to his 1 year photographs to show how much he had grown:

I unfortunately forgot to take a picture at his 2 year photos with the glove, but I remembered this year!

Hiding behind the glove!  Crazy that 3 short years ago his whole little body fit in that glove!

A great shot of his birthday outfit (minus the dino socks...I forgot those!)
Obviously, Jenn got tons of great photos from a slightly uncooperative subject.  This really is only about half of the photos that I have, but I didn't want to overload the blog post with a million photos, so I picked the very best ones to share here.  J Fortune Photography is amazing and all the photos unless noted otherwise were taken by Jenn at J Fortune Photography.  Click on that link to go directly to the website and book a session yourself!

A Few Friday Thoughts

Here's what is on my mind today.  In a very random order...
  • I dread Fridays.  I am one of the few people that dread Friday because I work on Saturday and Sunday.
  • I only have two more Fridays to dread!  For those of you who haven't heard the news.  I have accepted a new position and work and will be returning to the typical Monday through Friday grind.  I am very excited to have my weekends back.
  • I'll miss a few things.  Most importantly being able to take Logan places during the week when they are not so crowded.
  • I love the Olympics, but I often wonder why we place such a high importance on them.  It is so sad that an athlete who peaks a year to early (like Jordyn Wieber) will never be the same even though she has made amazing achievements in her gymnastic career.  I've seen this happen with countless gymnasts in the past (Kim Zmeskal, Dominique Moceanu, Shannon Miller) and I am sure it happens in other sports too.
  • Have you read Dominique Moceanu's book "Off Balance" ?  If not, you need to read this book.  It really shows how the Karolyi's are ruining gymnastics.  Disagree with me?  Fine.  I idolized Bela growing up as a young girl, but as I got older, I knew things were not all right with the Karolyis.
  • On that note, do you ever wonder what happens to those poor gymnasts from China, Russia, Ukraine, etc. who lose Gold medals when they get home?  I worry for them.
  • Go Gaby Douglas!  Three-peat for USA Women's All Around Gymnastics Gold!
  • I feel sorry for Aly, but she made mistakes.  She gave the bronze away.  It sucks for her.  Can you imagine what Jordyn Wieber was thinking?  If it was me, I would be thinking that I should have been on the floor getting the medal!
Ok, enough on gymnastics...I didn't mean to ramble on...
  • Logan is doing great with potty training!  He has been in his big kid underwear for 3 days now and shows no signs of stopping! Whoohoo!
  • He had the tantrum of all tantrums the other day.  Wow! That boy can scream!
  • Logan and I have been doing some baking in the kitchen.  I took pictures, so eventually you will see a blog post :)
I'll stop now.  I have probably bored you!
Here's a sneak peak at an upcoming blog post about Logan's 3 year photos by J Fortune Photography!  I know you can't wait.

I also want to give a shout out to my awesome husband of FIVE years!   Tomorrow is our fifth Anniversary! Wow!

Five years ago!
