Play-doh MESS!

I read an article on homemade play-doh and on a whim decided to whip some up.  I actually had all the ingredients-including the cream of tartar!!
You can view the recipe here.

This was a good toddler activity.  Logan got to help mix up all the ingredients!

We used black cherry jello because that is what I had on hand.  It turned a pretty shade of purple!

This was the only step that Logan could not help with.

"That hot!"  (It took more than 20-30 minutes to cool...about 45 minutes probably)

Here's where the fun began!
Now the recipe says that it will take about a half cup flour to get the stickiness to go away.  Not so much.  It took like 2 cups of flour to get the stickiness to go away.  Logan really enjoyed sprinkling the flour over the dough then kneading the flour in.  Then I decided to give Logan glitter to mix into the dough.  I mean, really, glitter makes everything WAY cooler!  I, of course, got a phone call during the glittering.  I turned back around and there is not only flour, but glitter too, everywhere!

Don't worry, Logan helped to clean up!

The finished play-doh
It is pretty nice play doh, but I have to say that a few days later it gets very sticky again.  For whatever reason, you have to store it in the fridge also.  I may get a little wild and see what happens if I don't store it in the fridge...

Logan was a very happy boy!  His favorite thing to do with it is to make Dino and animal tracks in it.
I was kicking myself today when I was cleaning the kitchen for Logan's birthday party.  I don't think the flour and glitter will ever be gone!  Everyone who comes to Logan's party is sure to leave a little sparklier than when they arrived!

Photo Fun!

Logan and I cheesing for the camera!

I can't get the child to wear his sunglasses, but he sure likes mine!

Enjoying a beautiful day at the park with Daddy!

Just wanted to show how awesome our seats are at Busch this year!  Fred Bird runs right by us when the Cards win!

Mother's Day gifts.  These babies were not as easy as they should have been...it is not easy to get pictures to stick to a curved surface with modge podge...or tape...or glue...I ended up having to get the hot glue gun out!  They turned out cute though and both Moms loved them!

Mom & Me Book Club Fun: The Kissing Hand

I'm a bit behind (ok...a lot behind) on getting this post done.  This was our April book club meeting.  Sadly, Logan and I missed the March one, but I hear it was an awesome time also!  Katie and her kiddos hosted this time.  They picked "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn for the book.
I had never read this book (and I think I may be the only one out there who hasn't...), but it is such a good book!

Katie reading to the kids.  They were so good about listening to the book this time!
Katie found the cutest idea for snacks.  She cut pizza crusts into hand shapes and then each child got to make their own personal pizza.  The kids loved this!

The hand pizzas and the topping choices!

Logan and Addy putting their toppings on
After getting their little bellies full, we headed outside to do the craft for the day.  Katie had cut out shapes so the kids could make raccoon faces and then they used finger paint to put their hand prints on the paper.  Amazingly, the kids remained extremely clean!!

Addy shows off her hand print!

Logan's finished product!
We had a great time.  The weather was amazing, so the kids were able to play outside together for a while too.  I think they were all sad to leave!
Thanks to Katie for an awesome book club meeting!

Logan Gets What Logan Wants (AKA Purple Hot Dogs)

Jeff, Logan, and I went to Chili's for lunch a while back.  Acting like the big boy he is becoming, Logan wanted to order for himself.  I think Jeff, the waiter, and myself were quite shocked when Logan's order was for "Purple hot dogs please."
Yes.  Purple hot dogs.
Chili's doesn't have hot dogs, purple or otherwise, so we had to promise Logan purple hot dogs for dinner.
When I got home, I googled "purple hot dogs" and got a big fat nothing.  Apparently, no one else has ever wanted purple hot dogs.
Well, Logan is my little boy and I try to give him anything he wants, so I set out on a little science experiment.
Purpose:
To feed a cute little boy purple hot dogs for dinner.

Hypothesis:
Hot dogs can indeed be dyed purple.

Materials:
Hot dogs and spaghetti.  The first set of hot dogs has spaghetti poked through little pieces.  The second hot dog has holes poked in it.  The bottom hot dog is just a plain hot dog.

Red and Blue food coloring in a pot of water!
Procedure:

Boil, boil, boil!
Observations:
Hot dogs do not dye well, but spaghetti does!
 Conclusions:
The purple spaghetti made the hot dogs appear purple enough for Logan.

Logan inspects the plate carefully.

A satisfied customer!
Bottom line:  Hot dogs are very hard to turn purple, but Logan was still a happy kiddo at dinner time!

iPhone Pics-Logan Style

Logan has become quite the photographer apparently.  I went to download my iPhone photos to the computer this morning and, boy, was I in for a surprise!  Logan has taken a lot of photos.  I am actually somewhat impressed with his skills.

There are his better shots...there are a lot of finger shots too.  I won't bore you with those, but here are some pretty funny ones.

Pretty sure, I had no clue he was taking a picture here...

A Little Friday Funny

Our little boy is a Mess! (notice the capital "m")
Today as I was getting ready in the bedroom, Logan was quietly playing in the living room.  I hear my phone ring and immediately run into the living room to answer it.
Too late.  Logan has my phone and has apparently already answered it.
Here's what he says to the caller:
"Hi!  Bwabapappybamomobapapa..." *screaming at the top of his lungs*
Then he hangs up.
Franticly Very calmly, I take the phone and go to my missed calls to see who Logan has just screamed at.
Missed call from my workplace.  Of course, it's work.  It couldn't be a friend or family member.
The phone rings again.  Again from my workplace.
Yep.  It's my supervisor.
Uh.Huh.
I, of course, apologized for Logan's craziness.
I hope my supervisor got a little chuckle for the day.
It sure made me laugh...
It's a good think he is so darn cute!

Ride. Ride. Ride. Ride. Ride...

The Dinosaur Train.  RRROOOOAAARRRR!!

Jeff loaded Logan up in the car and headed a couple a towns away to take Logan to a Dinosaur Train event.  He left with tons of time to spare and got stuck in the mother of all traffic.  Poor Jeff.  They did make it eventually and Logan was able to enjoy this really cool event.

A local man makes dinosaur sculptures.  Logan was really impressed!

"Cheese"

Buddy the T-Rex.  Apparently, Logan and Jeff waited in line for quite some time and then they stopped taking pictures when Logan was 3 away!  Jeff was mad.  Logan was cool with it since Buddy did give him a "high 5".

Logan loving on the dinosaur

Taking a ride on the Dinosaur Train!
Logan is still talking about the "big dinosaurs".  It was a really neat event and it was too bad the crazy traffic made a mess of it.  Jeff reported that almost everyone at the event had gotten stuck in the traffic!

Logan and the Ballpark

Logan took his first trip to Busch Stadium this year a few weeks ago.  He had a great time!  Mommy-not so much...
Logan is definitely more interested in wandering around the stadium than watching the ballgame.  This is really nice in stadiums that we have not been to before, but I know Busch inside and out.  By the end of the game, Mommy had very tired legs!
We took full advantage of the little playground and Logan built a Clydesdale at the Build A Bear. (complete with Rally Squirrel shirt!).  It was a hot day, so there were many juice boxes and bottles of water consumed.

We are fortunate that our seats include a little air conditioned lounge.  Since it was nearly 90 degrees, Logan and I took full advantage of the lounge!

Shockingly, Logan actually wore his baseball cap a good portion of the day

Logan really enjoyed the little playground area

Unfortunately, the Cards lost the game...

Logan was striking a pose for me!
